Why join?

AWAWS is committed to fostering gender equality and diversity across the many disciplines that make up ancient world studies. We do this by offering an annual grant to support our members in their research, providing a mentorship program for members at all stages of their careers, hosting community events through our local chapters, and by pursuing new academic avenues to highlight the contributions women have made throughout the history of ancient world studies in Australasia.
Membership is open to academics, teachers, students and independent scholars in classics, ancient languages, ancient history and archaeology across all time periods. Our variable membership rates reflect the variety of scholars from researchers, to teachers, casual tutors and unwaged students dedicated to gender equality. If you are unsure which membership category is appropriate for you, please feel free to get in touch via email [email protected].

Please note: We have added just a couple of questions to our membership form to help the executive committee get to know the membership better and ensure we are serving our community in the ways they are interested in. If you have any further feedback please let us know via email.
