Marguerite Johnson

Professor of Classics at The University of Newcastle

Marguerite Johnson is Professor of Classics at The University of Newcastle, New South Wales. In addition to her expertise in ancient genders and sexualities, primarily based on Greek and Latin literary traditions, Marguerite works in the area of Classical Reception Studies, particularly in relation to early colonial Australia. She is a feminist whose work is inspired by a variety of feminist scholarship, and is a supporter of women in the academy. Marguerite has extensive experience in teaching at all levels as well as postgraduate supervision.
 
Marguerite is willing to mentor across a broad range of disciplines within Classics and Ancient History, and has the capacity of work with a maximum of three mentees at any stage.
