Gareth Wearne

Senior Lecturer in Biblical Studies in the School of Theology at the Australian Catholic University

Gareth Wearne is a Senior Lecturer in Biblical Studies in the School of Theology at the Australian Catholic University. His main areas of expertise are Northwest Semitic epigraphy and early Jewish social history, with a special focus on the Dead Sea Scrolls. In 2019 he was named one of the ABC’s Top 5 early career researchers in the humanities for his work on the Dead Sea Scrolls. This resulted in intensive training in public communication and media engagement, and he is eager to share insights gained through this experience to help emerging scholars reach broad and diverse audiences outside academia.

Gareth has wide-ranging experience in teaching and supervision, with a special interest in blended learning design and technology-enhanced learning.
