Craig BarkerHead Public Engagement, Chau Chak Wing Museum. Director of the Paphos Theatre Archaeological ProjectCraig Barker is a classical archaeologist and museum educator. He is the Director of the Paphos Theatre Archaeological Project in Cyprus and the Head of Public Engagement for the Chau Chak Wing Museum at the University of Sydney. Craig has extensive experience in teaching the ancient world to K-12 school students, adult education courses and at undergraduate and postgraduate level, and has published widely. He also has extensive public outreach experience, including a regular segment devoted to ancient world studies on ABC Radio.
Craig has had extensive archaeological fieldwork experience in Australia, Cyprus, Greece and Turkey and has worked on a wide range of research and excavation projects. He has a wide range of research interest including the archaeology of Cyprus and the eastern Mediterranean, Roman urbanisation, Hellenistic and Roman ceramics, ancient theatre architecture, amphorae and the ancient wine trade, the history of archaeology and museum education. Craig is willing to mentor on career progression, learning and teaching and research particularly in the fields of archaeology’, public engagement and museology. He has the capacity to mentor a maximum of one mentee at any stage. |
