Jennifer HellumSenior lecturer in Egyptology, in the department of Classical Studies and Ancient History, at the University of AucklandJennifer is a senior lecturer in Egyptology, in the department of Classical Studies and Ancient History, at the University of Auckland, New Zealand. She specialises in the languages of ancient Egypt, particularly Middle Egyptian. She is interested in the ancient Egyptian religion, art, and literature, and her current research examines the historiographical relationship between Orientalism and the decipherment and interpretation of ancient Egyptian. She has participated in several excavations in Egypt, at Mendes, Giza, and Abydos, and has led groups of students on study trips to Egypt. She has supervision and mentoring experience across all levels of study, from undergraduate to doctoral, and considers this to be one of the most important parts of her job.
Jennifer is willing to mentor within the discipline in a way that suits the mentee. She has the capacity to mentor a maximum of two mentees at any stage. |
