Julia Kindt

Professor in the Department of Classics and Ancient History at the University of Sydney

Julia Kindt is Professor of ancient history in the Department of Classics and Ancient History at the University of Sydney and a current ARC Future Fellow (2018-22). Her research interests include ancient Greek history (from the Archaic period through to Roman Greece), ancient Greek religion and the interdisciplinary study of religions, ancient anthropology and human/animal relations, historiography (ancient and modern) as well as Herodotus.

Julia is a member of the editorial board of the Journal of Ancient History and of Sydney University Press, and a Senior Editor of the Oxford Research Encyclopaedia of Religion (ORE). She was recently appointed to join the College of Experts of the Australian Research Council (ARC).

Julia is willing to mentor across all disciplines in a way that suits the mentee. She is keen to mentor in how to navigate academic promotions and how to build a publication record, ARC and other grants, how to combine an academic career with being a mother and how to negotiate teaching and research (and enjoy both!). Julia has the capacity to mentor a maximum of two mentees at any stage.

Email Julia to see if she is available to mentor you.
